IM Sports Overview

Program temporarily suspended - Check out our Play Safer Series of activities.

Intramural Sports are the most popular extracurricular activity offered on campus. Being involved in the program is a great way to meet new people, reconnect with friends, continue playing the sports that you have grown to love or you can try a new activity you've never played before! UWL offers team, dual and individual league options in which participants compete for the ever-popular and highly-coveted Intramural championship t-shirt.

Our staff is here for YOU! We pride ourselves on providing the campus community with opportunities to interact both competitively and recreationally in a welcoming, safe, fair and fun environment!

NOTE: Due to COVID-19, we will not be offering contact sports (football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, dodgeball, etc.) during the 2020-2021 academic year. We are working to provide other opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to recreate and participate in intramural sports. Please reach out to if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Men's, Women's, Co-Rec, and Open leagues are offered with competitive, intermediate, and recreational divisions when applicable.

Competitive (A) – The competitive league is the highest competition level available. This league is meant for those athletes that are playing intramural sports to win. Individuals on competitive league teams have experience with organized play in that sport.
Intermediate (B) – The intermediate league is a combination of competitive and recreational. This league is meant for individuals looking to win but have less experience competing in organized play in that sport.
Recreational (C) – The recreational league is the lowest competition level available. The primary goal of the recreational league is to have fun while playing intramural sports. This league is meant for individuals with little to no experience with organized play in that sport.

Teams will play regular-season contests on a designated night and/or time depending on the league for either a 4-week or 5-week schedule. Qualifying teams will be entered into a playoff bracket to compete for their chance of winning a championship shirt.

COVID-19 is impacting our intramural program significantly and unfortunately, we are not able to offer contact sports: basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, softball, wiffleball during the fall 2020 semester. Our contact sports are also our officiated and score-kept sports. Without offering these sports, we are not looking to hire any officials or scorekeepers at this time. Stay tuned for an update about the spring 2021 semester.

We are hoping to offer these sports in the future and will be following University guidelines for return-to-play.
